SNSD Project: Jung Jessica

Couple of weeks ago, I brought up a personal proposal to myself, for me to write an entry featuring each of the members of SNSD. It wasn’t supposed to be like this but because I was caught in a dilemma choosing my ultimate bias in the group, I just didn’t have a choice… I couldn’t. 

Seriously. I really like each of the gurls, that choosing just one bias is almost impossible. And in the end, it happened this way.

And continuing the SNSD Project, here’s the second installment.

Truthfully, Jessica isn’t really my favorite member. The first time she made an impact on me, it wasn’t really a pleasant memory. It was during SM Town concert in LA. She had a performance with Krystal. At the time, she was blonde and she looked sickly. She looked way too skinny.

I even had the thought that she has the least facial charm in the group until I saw her solo photoshoot in Thailand.

Anyway, bottom line is, my first impression of Jessica didn’t last. I started seeing her in a whole different light!

To begin, I started to realize she isn’t as unattractive as I thought she was. Blonde just doesn’t do her justice. Even Hyoyeon agrees.

Thankfully, nowadays, she flaunts a more womanly allure with her long brown hair. It really suits her.

I also like how she’s very fashionable. I mean, all of them are fashionable in their own sense but it’s Jessica, Sooyoung and Tiffany that stands out to me. They have this talent matching their outfit quite well. And Jessica has always been classy. She doesn’t overdo it. Seriously, I needa learn from her.. Haha!

To add, I find her personality really interesting. I dare say she actually is cute. Haha! It’s so entertaining to watch her space out. Like all of a sudden, she’ll have this blank face in the middle of a broadcast. Sometimes she will not catch on and gets reminded to pay attention. I don’t particularly think she’s an ‘Ice Princess’ just like what everybody calls her. She’s just very reserved, quiet but direct. She also has this arrogant look on her face most of the time. But if you watch more of her, especially in variety shows, it’s almost like a joke to actually call her ‘Ice Princess’. I guess that’s one of her charm. You gotta see more of her to see the other side of her :3

Oh! Randomly, she cracks up, too. She seems to always have a late reaction and would be laughing by herself (she doesn’t seem to be paying attention most of the time). And let’s not forget the ‘Sica Effect’. Haha! Seriously, she kills the mood almost instantaneously. So different from the others.. Usually, it’s really just brought about by her laziness. She’s not very active. And her motto?  Never run no matter how late you are. Cited during their ‘All About Girls’ Generation: Paradise in Phuket’ and ‘Factory Girl’. She is so lax..

But the most entertaining story about her is her sleeping habits. Taeyeon has the worst sleeping habits (she talks a looooot) but Jessica follows close by! You see, Jessica is a sleepy head. She seems to love sleeping more than anything in the world and she mentioned it several times already. Not just her, all the members acknowledge her worst sleeping habits and Seohyun always testify to that. Jessica has the hardest time waking up that once, they even threw her just so she can wake up. Haha! Another funny story was when she was almost reported as a missing person because nobody can find her!!! Apparently, she fell asleep in the tub.

Moving on, as an artist, I actually admire her dancing skills. I don’t know… For some reason, I always catch myself watching her dance. I admit Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung has the most outstanding dance performances but Jessica is not to be taken lightly.

So with all that, why can’t I like her more like the other members? Well, there’s one major thing I really dislike about her… I dislike her singing voice.

But before y’all go hatin’ on me, I wanna clarify that this is nothing but my own personal opinion.. Yet it’s true. I get so annoyed listening to Jessica’s voice. She can hit the right notes and rarely goes off tune but her voice is too squeaky for my taste. I want it fuller with more variation like Sunny’s perhaps? To be honest, I like Yuri’s voice better than hers. But I learned how to tolerate Jessica’s voice most of the time. I mean, what choice do I have, really? Haha! I gotta accept the fact that she is considered as the second main vocalist so I’ll be hearing more of her…

In its entirety, Jessica is not that bad. There’s more to love than hate about her. And I appreciate the fact that recently, she’s been getting better with her variety skills. She is more proactive now and funny. She shows more aegyo, too. I enjoyed watching her on Running Man and Dangerous Boys. Haha! Here’s one clip from Start King that’s really hilarious!

I guess unconsciously, I started liking her. LOL! That’s a good thing, tho.

Oh well, I’ll finally end this post right now. I hope you enjoyed reading this post even if it’s so random. I have so many things to share and I’m sure there’s still a lot of things I forgot to say but it’s 3AM right now. I needa catch some sleep. HAHA! As usual, I spent so much time just finishing up this article.
