This is just a bit of a rant about everything that’s happened in the past couple of hours. And yes, it’s related to the whole Jeremy Scott issue. I honestly just need to get this off of my chest.

Before this, I had no idea who Jeremy Scott was but I have seen his designs before. His designs are really popular here, especially among people who like the urban style, hip hop, etc.

I’ve seen that some people are conflicted, they don’t understand why SONEs are so worked up. Others think we are overreacting of course and some are even defending Mr. Scott. So I’d like to explain to all of you just what exactly we’re ‘overreacting’ about.

Jeremy Scott’s tweets weren’t respectful. In fact, it was ignorant and rude. Not only did he taunt how many members SNSD has in their group but he even replied to someone who wanted to correct him and said ‘Sorry I never bothered to watch their videos’. Then he had to say that SNSD’s parents probably vote for them and to me it seemed like he was indirectly saying that Soshi doesn’t have any fans. I don’t know about you but I found that extremely disrespectful. Maybe I’m offended easily but it kind of felt like he was saying SNSD wasn’t worth watching, they weren’t worth his attention. That’s how I understood his message. Some of you are arguing saying that Jeremy Scott is insignificant to all of this, he’s not important and it doesn’t matter what he says. But I think some of you have forgotten something really important..

Our girls still have a really big dream they would like to see come true. A successful US debut. Sadly, Mr. Scott is very well known here. I’ve seen some SONEs that are scared to see our girls debut here because K-SONEs won’t be there to protect them. Things like Scott’s tweets, that’s the kind of stuff we don’t want to see. We don’t want people to taunt how many members are in the group, we don’t want people to compare them to 2NE1, we don’t want people to disrespect them. We want people to see what we see. The loving 9 beautiful girls who worked so hard to get where they are now. We want them to see their talents and we don’t want any of that hard work to go to waste. For those of you that have been around the kpop fandoms for a while, remember BoA’s US debut? Did you see how that went? Did you see what some people said about her?

I don’t want to see that happen to SNSD. It was hurtful enough as a BoA fan. And even though BoA says she’s proud of her efforts, I feel like somewhere she’s hurt about it. I don’t want SNSD to hurt anymore, our girls have hurt enough. I don’t want them to step out of their comfort zone just to end up humiliated by ignorant criticism. I don’t want people to turn their backs on them because they have ‘too many members’ or because they’re all asian. Jeremy Scott’s tweets can influence those kinds of opinions. When Soshi debuts I’m sure atleast a few Americans will remember what Jeremy said about them. That’s not what we want people to remember them by.

This is why we overreact. Everything SNSD has achieved..we feel like it’s well deserved, we know it was. When you bash our girls, you bash us as well. Because we’re one with SNSD. When they cry, we cry. When they hurt, we hurt. When they smile and feel happy, we do too. This is our family.

I’m not going to sit here and say that SONEs are always right because we aren’t. Our fandom isn’t perfect, we have a lot of flaws but one thing that is perfect is our love for SNSD. We don’t doubt it for a second, we just want the best for our girls. So please try to keep that in mind the next time you say that we’re being ‘immature’ and that we should just let things go. In 2008, only a small amount of SONEs were able to support Soshi. Now thanks to that event the girls remember it as a time where there was nothing but nine. We don’t want that to happen ever again. So let SONEs go apeshit about this matter if they want, we’ve been through a lot, we have reasons to be overprotective and it’s only out of love. If it bothers you then just mind your own business. Please.
